At Babycare.nl, we are always busy providing parents, grandparents, and caregivers around the world with the best and safest baby products. But our commitment goes beyond just offering quality products – it's about creating a better, greener future for our children.

Why We Go Green

Every small step matters when it comes to protecting our planet for future generations. That's why we are dedicated to reducing our ecological footprint. It's not just a responsibility; we've made it a part of our mission.

What We Have Done

  • Reusing Packaging
    We reuse packaging and boxes, reducing the use and transportation of packaging materials for a smaller waste footprint and less CO2 emissions.We reuse approximately 95% of the packaging in our warehouse! (We're quite proud of this!)
    Important to know: Due to this reuse, the packaging you receive may mention a different product than what you ordered. Rest assured! Just open your package: Everything you ordered is inside!
  • Use of Recycled Packaging Materials
    For small shipments, we also use so-called shipping bags made of plastic. The use of these bags allows us to minimize the shipping volume, fitting more packages in the delivery van. We ensure that our shipping bags are made exclusively from recycled plastic.
  • Reducing the Shipping Volume of Orders
    For all our shipments, we are working to minimize the shipping volume. We don't want to send large boxes filled with air! By packing as small as possible, we can fit as many packages as possible in the truck and delivery van.
  • Energy Efficiency of Our Building
    Our warehouse and store are equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting. Since 2022, Babycare.nl is completely gas-free. We now use a heat pump for heating. The electricity used comes mostly from wind and solar sources. We are also exploring solar panels on our own roof to further reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy.
  • Sustainable Product Choices
    We are expanding our range with eco-friendly baby products, including organic clothing, strollers made from recycled fibers, and toys made from natural materials. We aim to provide products that are sustainable from the drawing board because they are repairable and use responsible materials. We also pay attention to how products are manufactured.
  • Green Collaborations
    We collaborate with brands and suppliers that share the same commitment to sustainability. At this moment, we share values and goals with these brands: Baby’s Only, Bugaboo, Feetje, Joolz, Lanco, Little Dutch (FSC), and Sophie la Giraffe.

No Greenwashing

We believe you should be able to trust green initiatives. Carbon capture through tree planting is not seen as a sustainable solution because it has a lifespan of several years to decades. At the end of the tree's life, the stored CO2 is released back into the atmosphere.
Therefore, we are working to further reduce our CO2 emissions from the long carbon cycle (fossil fuels) as this CO2 is considered the primary culprit in climate change. Our choices regarding CO2 reduction relate to CO2 from the long carbon cycle. We believe we should leave this 'old' CO2 in our Earth and stop using fossil fuels.

What Can You Do?

Feeling overwhelmed? Not sure where to start? For the products we sell, here are a few tips:

  • Reuse Our Packaging.
    Cardboard packaging boxes can be easily reused multiple times. It saves a lot of material!Have we used bubble wrap for your order? This is made from recycled plastic (LDPE). It can be used effectively as insulation for your heating pipes or to seal gaps.
  • Contact us if your product unexpectedly shows a defect. We are happy to assist you in finding a spare part. This way, you can prolong the life of a product. You save money and the environment!
  • Ensure responsible disposal when your product has reached the end of its lifespan. Textiles and metals, in particular, are valuable raw materials. You can dispose of textiles in many textile containers. Strollers contain a lot of metal and plastics. You can return them to the waste disposal station. The frames are ground down, and the plastics and metals are separated and reused.
